My Why.... 'To help people feel better'

Oct 02, 2021

Little did I know when I started out in complementary therapies over 10 years ago where my journey would take me. My five year fertility journey had given me 'permission' to try a variety of complementary therapies and notice the difference they made to me both physically and mentally. I also wanted to support people holistically, individually, naturally and gently.

That 'permission' is one of the things I want to change...having regular treatments makes me more productive so its actually a good investment, but the physical and mental benefits help me take care of my own wellbeing, which is particularly important when we are supporting others. One day I hope that going for a regular complementary therapy session is as ingrained as going to the hairdressers for a trim.

As a new therapist I remember being concerned about what my clients would think of my treatments - I would squeeze as many different elements into my treatments as I could to 'cover all the bases' and have the best chance of improving things for them.

Over the next few years I realised how powerful the Energy work was, quicker and more powerful than physical manipulation it gradually took over my whole treatment. With a calm confidence I was willing to spend longer on the areas I felt needed more support without worrying that my client would be thinking 'Why isn't she doing more?'

I had reached the point where I no longer cared what they thought, I just wanted to give them the best treatment I could that would help them the most at that moment in time and if that involved 30 minutes with my hand still in one place so be it.

My regular clients stayed with me and many have been coming since I was newly qualified. Others come and go, some come back as and when they need me. Some may only come once, and that's ok with me now; I know I'm never going to be everyone's cup of tea! And sometimes one Gentle Release session is all that person needs at that moment in time, and one day much later they sometimes return for another session.

Launching Gentle Release Therapy and introducing it to other practitioners has been amazing. Seeing the practitioners unravel, releasing their tension and stress so gently yet deeply and profoundly on the courses, even the virtual ones has been so rewarding. I also get the benefit of reading all their case studies and seeing how Gentle Release Therapy has touched and helped so many more lives than I could ever hope to personally support. From cancer, bereavement, fertility, baby loss, anxiety, depression to menopause symptoms it is an absolute honour to see Gentle Release Therapy is touching other peoples lives.
