Gentle Release Therapy

Areas we support

Gentle Release Therapy works with body, mind and spirit, and the same approach travels with us into every area we support. We work in many areas, and the ones below are some we have written about.

Across all of them, the work can be given in person, at distance with no touch at all, or learned by partners, parents and carers so they can offer it at home. Each section links through to more about how the work can come alongside what someone is going through.

Kids

Gentle Release Therapy suits children well. The touch is light or held at distance, the pace follows the child, and there is no need to explain or articulate what is happening. Practitioners support children around sleep, exam stress, change, illness, and the everyday weight that little people sometimes carry without quite having words for it.

Cancer Support

Gentle Release Therapy works alongside conventional cancer care, never in place of it. The work can offer a quiet space to rest, ease tension, and support the nervous system through treatment and recovery, and many practitioners in our community hold particular experience here. The pace is set by the client, and sessions can be in person or held at distance when getting out of the house is too much.

Neurodiversity

Gentle Release Therapy is often a good fit for neurodivergent people. The pace is predictable, the sensory experience is gentle, and there is no requirement to talk or process out loud while receiving it. The first four points of the vagus nerve protocol can also be learned and used at home, either by a neurodivergent adult for themselves or by a parent for their child, and this is often particularly steadying through dysregulation, sensory overload and burnout.

Fertility

The fertility journey is rarely only physical. Gentle Release Therapy works gently with the whole picture, including the Liver and Kidney energy that Traditional Chinese Medicine connects with the reproductive system, and the emotional weight that builds up over time. The work is suitable for both partners, and is something Helen developed in part through her own five year journey.

Exam stress

Exam season asks a lot of the body, not only the mind. Gentle Release Therapy, and the Gentle Release Vagus Nerve Treatment in particular, can support sleep, focus and the nervous system through pressured times, without the need to explain or rehearse anything out loud. Sessions work in person or at distance, which is practical when revision time is full or the young person is away from home.

Sleep

Clients often report sleeping more easily after Gentle Release Therapy. The work is gentle and intuitive, releasing tension through the abdomen, the cranial system and the points connected with rest, and you do not need to do anything but receive it. There are also free guided Gentle Release recordings on YouTube, including one for younger children and one for older children and grown ups.

Hypermobility

Hypermobility and hypomobility both bring their own kind of pain and tiredness. Gentle Release Therapy can ease tension across the body, support the ligaments, tendons and joints, and allow the system to function a little more steadily over time. Clients often find the work pairs well with physiotherapy, pilates and the rest of their care.

Motor neurone disease

Gentle Release Therapy does not slow or alter the course of motor neurone disease. What clients have shared is that sessions bring a sense of calm, can ease chronic muscle pain, and support sleep, energy and the quality of daily life through a condition that is very difficult to live with. Sessions can be in person or held at distance, which matters when leaving the house is not always possible.

Bereavement

We are not trying to fix or cure grief. Gentle Release Therapy gently supports what feels stuck in the body, mind and spirit through bereavement, anticipatory grief, and the long quiet aftermath. Some of our practitioners hold particular experience around baby loss, end of life care, and complex grief.
