Dancing with the Moon - Embracing Womanhood

Oct 25, 2020

The wisdom of women’s bodies has long been forgotten by many but as more women start to remember, acknowledge and harness the power within we can truly start to live with more ease, joy and flow.

As women our bodies cycle with the moon and as the moon affects the tides of the seas, it so affects the tides within each of us. As we ebb and flow with each tide, we swell and release  and that is our birth right, it is our power. However by never acknowledging and truly accepting ourselves, no wonder so many of us feel disconnected with ourselves and unsure of our place in the world. If you have never acknowledged how you truly feel about yourself during ovulation and your period consider how this happens perhaps twice a month, depending how regular and long your cycles are.  So every two weeks you get thrown off course, feeling shame, frustration, guilt maybe even anger at not being the person you think you ‘should be’. Twice a month…that’s 24 times a year…that is a lot to deal with and it’s now wonder so many women are feeling tired and broken.

What about all those women, perhaps you are one of them, with problems connected to their menstrual cycle perhaps, period pain, PMT, endometriosis, migraines, fertility struggles, there are even some skin conditions that get flared by the hormonal changes of our cycle. What if by living our lives with this repetitive abrasive relationship with ourselves these physical issues surface as a signal that all is not well… a cry for help.

And what about women in menopause, they may think they no longer have a cycle but I strongly believe the body will not forget that pattern. How could it possibly forget that incessant pull of the moon, after all, it may have been working with it for 20, 30 or 40 years how could we all of a sudden just disconnect from that and those patterns we have lived with month after month, year after year, during this time.

And for those women trying to lose some weight, this ebb and flow makes it all the harder, until we learn to connect and accept our dance with the moon, it may well be a difficult battle to overcome.

To explore this in more detail let’s think about before your period, you may start to swell and bloat, you may then start to feel bad about your body, you end up emotionally eating to try to make yourself feel better. This may even be so deeply ingrained that you don’t even consciously realise what you are doing, all of a sudden a bar of chocolate or a bag of crisps has disappeared, you don’t even remember taking pleasure in eating it. You then feel even worse, this may carry on until your period arrives then you may carry on eating emotionally for a few more days. Then finally you may have a week or so when you feel normal and are able to eat well again, and then bam…ovulation…swollen and wanting to emotionally eat again. Once that’s over you may have a week or so of actually feeling good and eating well again. So roughly you might have 2 weeks good and 2 weeks of emotional eating each cycle. If you are even managing to maintain your weight in this pattern you are doing well! No wonder losing weight can seem so impossible for so many women.

I would like to help you let go of those deep internal beliefs that think we should stay the same shape throughout our cycle, I want you to be able to embrace your cycle, harness its power and live to your full potential. I want you to let go of shame, frustration and guilt. I want you to stand tall and proud and dance with the moon. This is so deep and so fundamental it may well not be released with one run of this guided release. Honour yourself and commit to whatever work you need to do to clear this for yourself and for your daughters.

We all know that hormones affect our bodies and cause different physical and emotional responses, but I have a feeling that as women many of us have never really acknowledged or allowed this to be accepted as a core belief as part of our being. I feel like many of us may say things like ‘Oh I’m bloated because I’m on my period’ but instead of allowing that and fully embracing that positively, on some level within us there may be shame in that. Perhaps because of all those images we see of women, always thin, never bloated… the pictures never embrace the beauty of a woman’s change in form throughout her cycle and this may have affected us on a deeper level than we have ever consciously acknowledged. Or perhaps it’s because we were never taught or shown by our mothers how to embrace the true beauty of our own feminine form. We aren’t born with this womanly cycle, so as we become women we need to learn to live with it but who has taught us and been our guide. I’ve never had one…have you? Lets make this change not just for ourselves but for our daughters, let us light the way and show them how to embark upon a beautiful life nourishing themselves from within whilst dancing with the moon.

Consider those times of ovulation and during your period, how would it feel for you right now to be truly seen, whether its by your partner, your friends or the people you see when you are out and about. Would you feel comfortable with yourself or is their still more work to do?

Ironically my husband seems to think its obvious that my body changes shape through the month and can’t understand how I  (or women in general) could possibly have never accepted this. I wrote this guided release for me in the first instance, but I know many women will benefit deeply from this too. And if he and perhaps your partner has already seen this and accepted this, then I think its high time we start to see and accept ourselves deeply too.

The Dancing with the Moon guided release is my absolute favourite to date, the awareness and knowledge it can bring to your consciousness are invaluable. In the meditation I guide you to explore your relationship with your body and mind at key points in your menstrual cycle. We acknowledge the feelings, accept them and allow them to release. Even for women post menopause this meditation has been really useful. Download now for just £10.

It’s useful to use the key Gentle Release Techniques that are taught in the Introduction to Gentle Release Therapy Online Course to allow these deeper emotions and beliefs that may be held by fear, anger or frustration to be released. Its also something that can be used over and over again, as you work through the layers and shift the deeper beliefs. Learn more about the Introduction to Gentle Release Therapy online course.
